After the previous 2 years of turmoil the last event run in 2022 saw a smaller fleet than previous years but still managed to raise over £13,500 to donate to the RNLI
This remains one of the biggest fundraising days for the RNLI so please support us.
The RNLI Sailday has been taking place for over 25 years and had grown into the biggest RNLI fundraising event held in South Wales
We have had a few missing years recently but are delighted to get things back on track this year.
The simple principle is that our local sailing community offer their boats - with the owners acting as Skipper - to local businesses and individuals who then make a charitable donation for the pleasure of a day sailing with their guests in the Bristol Channel. Although it is definitely not a race, we do have a great trophy for the team that the organisers feel best deserves the honours on the day!
The donations made in order to sponsor each yacht then enables us to run the event and donate all profits to our chosen charity, the RNLI.
2022 saw a slightly smaller fleet of 12boats taking part but we still managed to raise a massive £13,500 in donations for the RNLI
This year we hope to be able to provide even more companies with yachts to sponsor and raise even more money to help the RNLI ...........................'saving lives at sea'

'A great day out - always fun!'
Meeting in the morning at Cardiff Bay Yacht Club guests are introduced to their skippers. Following a safety briefing we make our way to the boats and then lock out into the Bristol Channel.
This alone is an interesting experience for non-sailors but it is only the start of a fun day
sailing in the channel.
The day is definitely not a race, but we do set a course that will be fun in whatever conditions the day deals us. Individual boats may progress at different speeds and the skippers will make decisions as the day unfolds.
Returning to Cardiff Bay Yacht Club
in the afternoon for a buffet lunch, there are always a few stories to tell while catching up over a glass or two!
There is also the prestige of winning the Bill Davies Memorial Cup that is presented to the boat with the 'best spirit' on the day.
